NEW DELHI, August 8: Bollywood film Dishoom starring Sri Lankan beauty queen Jacqueline Fernandez with John Abraham and Varun Dhawan has grossed over a billion rupees in nine days at the worldwide box office since its release on July 29.

The film has grossed INR 830.7 millionat the domestic box office and INR 200.6 million in the international markets.

Dishoom currently stands with the total worldwide collection of INR 1,031.3 million.

This is Jacqueline’s fourth film in the last four years to join the exclusive club of films that have grossed over a billion Indian rupees. The earlier ones are: Kick (INR 2.33 billion, 2014), Race 2 (INR 1.08 billion, 2013), and Housefull 2 (INR 1.14 billion, 2012).

This ensures that the 30-year-old Sri Lankan beauty has made a name for herself in the competitive world of the Indian film industry, the biggest in the world that churns out some 1,500 films a year in over a dozen languages.

Her place in Bollywood can be said to be secure.

Directed by Rohit Dhawan, Dishoom also features Akshaye Khanna in a key role.

Meanwhile, it remains to be seen how Dishoom will perform this week. Mohenjo Daro, starring Hrithik Roshan, and Akshay Kumar-starred Rustom will release on this Friday (August 12).
