Former President Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunge said that she had come back home to the SLFP through today’s move to back Maithripala Sirisena’s candidature as the common candidate.
Addressing the special media briefing today said she was forced out of the SLFP on her birth day and no one stood up for her.
“I asked President rajapaksa to take the party leadership in a responsible manner, but he didn’t want to listen me,” she said.
“The one who won the war was sent to the prison. The rulers behave as no issues in the country to solve. I am not greed for power. I have decided to help Maithripala and the team for the sake of the country. Politics means serving the public and not making money,” she added.
