UNP MP Hirunika Premachandra said that some of the recordings of telephone conversations between her and MP Ranjan Ramanayake had been tampered with.

Premachandra said that there was a sinister campaign to tarnish her image.

She had filed complaints against four television channels for defamation, the MP said.

MP Premachandra pointed out that MP Ranjan Ramanayake had recorded the telephone conversations between the two of them without her consent.

It was a shame that a certain person had now gained an unlimited power over politicians. “This person can easily blackmail most of the politicians he wants to make his way into the Parliament if he wants to,” she said.
