Speaker Karu Jayasuriya has informed President Maithripala Sirisena that a fresh vote of no-confidence on Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa and the government was passed by Parliament yesterday.
The Speaker said that a vote was taken for the second time in three days, after President Sirisena had told him and leaders of the United National Front, TNA and JVP during a meeting at the Presidential Secretariat on Thursday night to follow proper procedure in moving the no-faith motion against Premier Rajapaksa and the government.
