President Maithripala Sirisena yesterday announced, through a gazette notification, that Parliament would be reconvened on Nov. 14.
The gazette says that parliament will meet at 10.00 am on that day.
President Sirisena, on Oct. 26, prorogued parliament until Nov. 16 after appointing Mahinda Rajapaksa the Prime Minister.
Since parliament was prorogued, Opposition political parties, civil society activists and western diplomatic missions have been pressuring the President to reconvene parliament immediately
