The Pivithuru Hela Urumaya (PHU) yesterday lodged a complaint with the permanent Office of Missing Persons (OMP) seeking its immediate intervention to find out the whereabouts of former Central Bank Governor Arjuna Mahendran.
PHU leader Madumadawa Aravinda yesterday told the media at its Pita Kotte office a thorough inquiry was needed to locate the missing Singaporean.
Madumadawa Aravinda said that theirs was the first complaint to the OMP since its establishment early this month in accordance with Geneva Resolution 30/1.
The PHU said that the OMP accepted its complaint.
Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe, who had repeatedly promised Mahendran would be available for investigations into treasury bond scams was silent today, Madumadawa Aravinda said.
Madumadawa Aravinda recollected how PM Wickremesinghe contemptuously told parliament Mahendran wouldn’t flee like Sri Lanka’s ambassador Udayanga Weeratunga wanted in connection with alleged irregularities in the acquisition and overhauling of MiGs
