97% of the People Voted For a New Constitution at the 2015 Presidential Poll – M.A.Sumanthiran MP

Speaking at the commencement of the three-day debate on the Constitutional assembly Steering Committee Interim Report, Tamil National Alliance(TNA) Jaffna District Parliamentarian M.A. Sumanthiran pointed out that 97 % of the people had voted for a new Constitution at the 2015 January Presidential elections as the manifestos of both President Maithripala Sirisena as well as Ex-President Mahinda Rajapaksa Had specifically stated They were for a new constitution. As such there was a bi-partisan mandate for a new Constitution with 97% of the people voting for it asserted Mr.Sumanthiran
