Arjuna Ranatunga Urges President and Prime Minister to Save Sri Lanka Cricket by Removing Thilanga Sumathipala.

Petroleum Resources Development Minister and former World Cup winning captain Arjuna Ranatunga has urged President Maithripala Sirisena and Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe to immediately change cricket administration to save the game.

In a letter addressed to the President and the PM, Minister Ranatunga has faulted Sports Minister and top cricket officials for failing to prevent Thilanga Sumathipala from contesting cricket board elections.

Minister Ranatunga has stressed that in line with rules and regulations governing Sri Lank Cricket, Sumathipala shouldn’t have been allowed to contest.

Minister Ranatunga has suggested that an interim committee be appointed to administer cricket as had been under the previous government.
