Bribery-Commission Director-General Dilrukshi Dias Wickramasinghe Resigns After President Sirisena’s Verbal Onslaught.

The Director-General of the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery and Corruption, Dilrukshi Dias Wickramasinghe, tendered her resignation a short while ago.

Speculation was rife that she would step down following comments by the President last week, and the furore that followed, but she had denied the rumours saying she would wait until she met with both the President and the Prime Minister.

President Sirisena is not in the country, having travelled to Goa in Indian to attend the BRICS Summit, and the Prime Minister is also out of the country, in Brussels, attempting a revival of GSP+ concessions.
