Sinhalese, Tamils and Muslims of Sri Lanka must unite against Northern Province Chief Minister, C.V. Wigneswaran, who is trying to revitalize the dying remnants of the LTTE in the North, Deputy Minister of Power, Ajith P. Perera said.

Addressing a group of United National Party (UNP) supporters in Bandaragama, Perera said Wigneswaran has no concern for the needs of the average citizen of the North.

“Wigneswaran has joined other racists in the North and he is trying to disrupt the government’s initiatives to unite the country and develop it,” he said.

Perera said the government will not give into Wigneswaran’s demands that will lead to a division of the country.

“We are trying to create an environment where members of all three ethnicities can live with dignity sharing equal rights. Wigneswaran can’t put an end to it. We must all unite to put an end to Wigneswaran’s plans to revitalize the remnants of the LTTE in the north,” he said.
