Former MP Bharatha Lakshman Premachandra’s daughter Hirunika Premachandra, addressing the media after the verdict of the Colombo Chief Magistrate said justice was achieved because the supremacy of law is protected under the new President.
“If the Government had not changed, maybe the verdict would have been different,” the weeping UNP MP said.
“Justice was achieved because the supremacy of law is protected under new President,” she stressed.
“I cannot be happy that they were sentenced to death,” she said.
“I am not that inhumane. But injustice was served to us. We still suffer it at home. I still hear my father’s voice when I go home.”
Now, justice is served,” she said.
The Colombo High Court this morning delivered a verdict sentencing former parliamentarian Duminda Silva and four others to death, for killing former MP Bharatha Lakshman Premachandra in a shootout at the Walpola Junction, near Mulleriyawa, on October 08, 2011.
