A multi-millionaire textile businessman was abducted by an unidentified gang opposite his Kotelawela Avenue residence in Bambalapitya on Sunday night.

Another businessman connected to the textile trade owed victim Sullaiman (29) Rs. 40 million and the latter had complained to the CID about it as the person who owed the money was avoiding him without paying back the loan.

According to police, the victim was returning home after having dinner with a friend in Bambalapitiya when the incident occurred.

Having stopped the vehicle near his house he had telephoned his wife and asked her to open the gate, police said. When she came out she heard another vehicle speeding away.

She said she had found blood stains at the scene.
