President Maithripala Sirisena yesterday handed over letters of appointment to forty new District and Electoral Organizers of the SLFP after stripping many of the former stalwarts, who are now openly supporting the Joint Opposition, off their posts.
Accordingly, 16 Electoral Organizers and 24 District Organizers received their appointment letters at the President’s Official Residence last morning.
Former ministers, who are now aligned with former President Mahinda Rajapaksa, under the ‘Joint Opposition’ banner, Keheliya Rambukwella, Gamini Lokuge, Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena, C.B. Rathnayake and Pavithra Wanniarachchi are key organizers who have been stripped off their positions.
The new Electoral Organizers are:
Chandana Kathriarachchi for Kesbewa (replacing Gamini Lokuge), Samjaya Siriwardene for Meerigama (replacing Kokila Gunawardene), W. D. Lalith Tensil for Negambo (replacing Sarath Kumara Gunaratne),Chandana Jayakodi for Divulapitiya(replacing Upeksha Swarnamali), Sumith Lal Mendis for Kalutara (replacing Rohita Abeygunawardena)M.H.M. Amjad for Beruwala, Hemal Gunasekara for Weligama (replacing Mahinda YapaAbeywardena), Eraj Ravindra Fernando for Beliatta, Sunil Kithsiri Amaratunga for Kundasale (replacing Keheliya Rambukwella), Jagath Kumara Samarahewa for Walapane (replacing C.B. Rathnayake) Sarath Sandanayake for Eheliyagoda (replacing Pavithra Wanniarachchi), Ananda Millangoda for Kegalle (replacing Jagath Balasooriya), D.M.P.A. Dassanayake for Uva- Paranagama (replacing A.M. Buddhadasa), Sumith Samayadasa for Haputale ( replacing Udith Lokubandara), P. Sumathipala for Sinhala areas in Vavuniya and K. Cader Masthan for other areas (replacing Dharmapala Senevirathne).
New District organizers are as follow:
Husain Manzil (former member CMC), Rajika Kodithuwakku (former member Kotte MC), Anura Atukorale (former Deputy Chairman Boralesgamuwa UC) and Vidura Balasuriya for Colombo District, Lalith Wanigaratne (WPC Minister) and Ajith Basnayaka (former Deputy Mayor Gampaha) for Gampaha District, Sumitha Priyangani Abayadheera and Hasitha Gunawardena for Kalutara District, Raj Chandralal (former councillor Matara MC) for Matara District, H.W. Gunasena (SPC Minister) for Hambantota District, Bandula Seneviratne (former chairman Udunuwara PS) for Kandy District, Sheela Yapa, Dr. Chulla Jayantha Dharmapriya, Ebert Perera, Roshan Gunewardena and P.P. Pratheepan for Nuwara Eliya District, S. Ravikumar, Athula Ratnayaka, and Farook Abdul Latheef for Kegalle District, J.M. Gunatilleke, and Jayasiri Premadasa for Badulla District, Indrani Dasanayaka for Puttalam District, Premasiri Hettiarachchi for Anuradhapura District and Chaminda Wasala for Vavunia District.
General Secretary of the SLFP Duminda Dissanayake and Minister Lakshman Yapa Abeywardena were among those who participated in this occasion.
