The Terrorist Investigation Division (TID) yesterday took into custody former LTTE Trincomalee District intelligence head, Thillaiarasan, to question in connection with the explosives found in a house in Chavakachcheri last month.

Prior to his arrest another Tiger leader, known as ‘Ram’ was taken into custody. Ram was formerly commander of the Amparai region LTTE

TID sources said, Thaillaiarasan and Ram, close associates, had been engaged in a number of attacks the LTTE launched against the security forces and the police.

“The two suspects in custody have not been rehabilitated after the 30-year war came to an end in 2009,” the police said.

Ram had lived with his wife in Tirukkovil and Thalaiarisan in Trincomalee after the strife ended.

Eleven persons had been so far taken into custody in this connection and all of them had connections with the LTTE, the police said.
