Two Eyewitnesses File Affidavit at Police Headquarters Swearing Cabinet Minister Champika Ranawaka was Driver of Vehicle Involved in Hit and Run Incident

The two eye witnesses who gave chase to Minister Champika Ranawaka following his hit and run case yesterday, filed an affidavit at the Police Headquarters today (4) regarding the accident.

Speaking to the media shortly after, one witnesses said that the Minister had fled the scene after hitting the two injured victims. The witness – Gayashan – gave chase and cornered the Minister when he identified himself.

He further added that while the injured motorcyclists were being transported to the Colombo National Hospital (CNH) they chased after the fleeing Jeep and obstructing its path forced it to halt before demanding the driver’s NIC.

The driver of the vehicle had identified himself as Minister Champika Ranawaka.

Furthermore, the two witnesses told the media that the victim Sadim Sampath rode a 1000cc motorbike while they themselves were riding a 100 – 250 cc motorbike.
