Yoshitha Rajapaksa and Others Comprising the “Carlton Five” at Welikade Jail Allowed to get Meals from Home

On a request made by the family members of the five suspects including former President Mahinda Rajapaksa’s son Yoshitha charged under the money laundering Act, all their meals were allowed to be brought to the Welikade prison from home, Commissioner General of Prisons Nishantha Dhanasinghe said.

The other suspects are former CEO of CSN and ex- Sri Lanka Cricket Secretary Nishantha Ranatunga, Former President Rajapaksa’s media secretary, Rohan Weliwita, Kavishan Gunasekera and Ashan Ravinath both employees of CSN.

The food brought for these suspects were being subjected to a strict checks by the Prison authorities, he said.

Dhanasinghe said some members of the public has asked for permission to visit the suspects, but he had politely turned down their requests.
