UPFA Must Unite to Set up UPFA Govt Again Instead of Propping up UNP Govt Says Transport Minister Nimal Siripala de Silva

People had now realised that the so-called yahapalana government took them for a ride and they were regretting the mistake they made on January 08 after falling for Facebook campaigns, Transport Minister Nimal Siripala de Silva said.

Addressing a meeting held at the Uva Karandagolla in Ella area on Saturday (14), the Minister said that people had made a wrong decision on January 08 because the opposition activists had duped them with the help of social media including Facebook. Having fallen for false propaganda, they were now paying for their mistakes.

Minister de Silva said some UPFA top politicians had joined the government headed by President Maithripala Sirisena, who is also the leader of the SLFP, with the intention of obtaining ministerial portfolios so that they could serve their party supporters better than by remaining in the opposition as MPs. “We did so for the sake of our party men and not with the intention of propping up a UNP government of Ranil Wickremesinghe,” he said.

He lamented that their intention to serve people after obtaining the ministerial posts had only been an illusion. “Now, the time has come for us the UPFA members to forget the past and our petty differences and join hands to work for the creation of a UPFA government again,” the Minister added.
