Cabinet Spokesman and Health Minister Rajitha Senaratne said yesterday that Justice Minister Wijeyadasa Rajapakshe had proved he was a ‘Goda Perakadoruwo’ by his conduct over the Avant Garde floating armoury issue.
Addressing the weekly Cabinet Press Briefing in Colombo, Senaratne said that Wijeyadasa had called him names including ‘Goda Perakadoruwo’, but that was a description befitting Wijeyadasa and not him. “The Justice Minister’s statements on the Avant Garde issue has exposed him for what he is and the people will judge him accordingly. He cannot erase what has happened by calling me names.”
Senaratne observed that Wijeyadasa after challenging him to produce evidence pertaining to the existence of an Investigation report of the Attorney General recommending that criminal action be instituted against Avant Garde’s top officials and former Defence Secretary Gotabaya Rajapaksa had remained silent at Thursday’s Cabinet Meeting. “The Justice Minister does not speak to his colleagues only to the media.”
Wijeyadasa had not been able to defeat former President Mahinda Rajapaksa until he (Rajitha) and certain others joined the United National Front, the spokesman pointed out.
Senaratne said that even though he was critical of Gotabhaya over his alleged wrongdoings, one had to admit that the latter had a good brain.
