The Victory Day parade conducted by the previous Government to mark the military defeat of Tiger guerrillas will be held on a different note this time.

It is being designated as the “Armed Forces Day.”

The first such event will be held in Matara later this month.

A Government official said the event would be “in remembrance of all those who died during wars in Sri Lanka.”
