Eight former Ministers will be arrested over the next two weeks over alleged involvement in bribery and corruption.
Sources said that the former Ministers are among 25 people, including members of parliament, expected to be arrested during this period.
Preliminary investigations into some members of the former government have now been completed and they will be arrested over the next two weeks.
Asked for a comment in this regard, police media spokesperson Ruwan Gunasekera said the Police Financial Crime Investigation Unit has received 52 complaints and that the final reports on the 26 complaints have been produced in court.
Accordingly those in connection with these crimes and frauds will be arrested and produced in court.
Ruwan Gunasekera said that investigations have revealed that many of these financial crimes and frauds had been carried out during the last Presidential election campaign.
