The Galle Magistrate yesterday impounded the passports of three persons including former Defence Secretary Gotabhaya Rajapaksa and former Navy Commander Admiral Somathilaka Dissanayake.
Travel restrictions were imposed to facilitate the investigation being carried out by the Criminal Investigations Department on the controversial floating armoury of Avant Garde Maritime Services (Pvt.) Limited.
Acting Police Spokesman ASP Ruwan Gunasekara said that Director of Rakna Lanka Major General (Retired) K. B. Egodawela, and Director of Avant Garde, Kithsiri Manjula Kumara Yapa had been barred from leaving the country. Colombo Chief Magistrate yesterday impounded the passport of Maj Gen Egodawela.
“Former navy commander is the present adviser to Avant Garde Services (Pvt.) Limited,” he said.
