Tamil National Alliance (TNA) Leader and Member of Parliament R. Sambandan yesterday refuted media reports that the party has appointed a committee to take a decision on whether it should accept Ministerial portfolios in the Eastern Provincial Council.
MP Sambandan while stressing that the party has not appointed such a committee said the TNA members of the Eastern Provincial Council have been allowed to take a decision on whether they should accept the Ministerial portfolios or not.
The TNA enjoys 11 seats in the council while the Sri Lanka Muslim Congress and United National Party has 7 and 4 seats respectively. The UPFA held power in the Eastern Provincial Council before defections by some of its members during the presidential election period.
