The Court of Appeal yesterday issued notice on the Attorney General, returnable on February 5, 2015 in respect of the Writ Application filed by JVP Parliamentarian Vijitha Herath, who has requested the Court to order the IGP and the Attorney General to arrest Kumaran Pathmanathan and to charge him under the Prevention of Terrorist Act.
The application was supported by Counsel Upul Kumarapperuma appearing with Thushan Ranatunga instructed by Sunil Watagala.
The petition said that KP was wanted by the government of India over the murder of its ex-Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi.
KP was the main arms dealer and the financial caretaker of the LTTE. His passport should be impounded, the JVP MP has said in his petition.
The Writ Application will be next heard on February 5, 2015 with notice to the Attorney General.
