Claiming that the Tamil National Alliance (TNA) has initiated a ‘Maithrivaranya’ in the North, in support of joint Opposition presidential candidate, Maithripala Sirisena, the Bodu Bala Sena (BBS) yesterday demanded that the agreement entered into between the TNA and Sirisena’s New Democratic Front (NDF) be revealed.

BBS General Secretary Galagoda Aththe Gnanasara Thera addressing the media in Colombo said the Tamil separatists, Muslim extremist factions and the pro-Communist parties of Sri Lanka are funded by the Western Embassies to create instability in the country and the government, and that Opposition Leader Ranil Wickremesinghe and former President Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunga are agents of the West.

He also refused to believe Jathika Hela Urumaya (JHU) General Secretary Patali Champika Ranawaka’s statement about the existence of secret agreements.

“Champika Ranawaka states there are no secret agreements, except for the unanimously agreed manifesto of the NDF. But it is apparent to us. Candidate Maithripala Sirisena, himself has said there are agreements between him and the JHU, UNP and so on, and we cannot believe that the TNA, which doesn’t even attend any rallies, will pledge their support to the opposition, unless a large amount of money was transferred between them,” he added.

When asked about the recent assault on a group of local artistes and the alleged involvement of the Nil Balakaya, he said that he is confused about the situation. “Local artistes get beaten up when Indian actors are venerated. These things cannot be coincidences at all. And I’m really confused about who’s involved and who’s not involved in these incidents,” he said.
