Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) MPs who formed a breakaway group to support the opposition’s common candidate have been stripped of their ministerial portfolios and privileges on the orders of President Mahinda Rajapaksa.
Accordingly, former ministers Maithripala Sirisena, Dr. Rajitha Senaratne, M.K.D.S. Gunawardena and Duminda Dissanayake, along with MPs Prof. Rajiva Wijesinghe, Arjuna Ranatunge, Wasantha Senanayake have been stripped of their privileges and positions.
Action has also been taken to strip them of their SLFP membership.
