The Bodu Bala Sena (BBS) has prepared the draft of a policy document to develop the country based on Buddhist principles and traditional Sinhalese values, the organization’s CEO, Dilantha Withanage said.

This broad-based document includes policies on diverse subjects such as health, education, nutrition, law and order and good governance, he said.

Asked whether the policies would be detrimental to the interests of other minorities and religions, Withanage replied, “Buddhist principles and traditional Sinhalese values had never been against other minority or religious interests”.

He said that the draft would be placed before the people and copies of it willbe presented to President Mahinda Rajapaksa, Opposition UNP leader, Ranil Wickremesinghe and leaders of other mainstream political parties next month.

Asked whether BBS will field a candidate for the next presidency, the CEO said that this is not necessary as they were of strongly of the opinion that all the mainstream political parties would accept their policy.

“We sought diverse views from various sources, deliberated and discussed each and every detail with a cross section of academics, intellectuals and professionals at length before we finalized the draft”, he explained.
