Popular actor Dhandapani known widely as “Kadhal Dhandapani” passed away on July 20th 2014 morning in Chennai due to a cardiac arrest.He made his debut in 2004 as the villainous father of the film’s heroine Sandhya in the successful film “Kadhal”directed by Balaji Sakthivel and produced by Shankar .Thereafter both Sandhya and Dhandapani got the name of the film “Kadhal|added on as a prefix and became known as “Kadhal|Sandhya and “Kadhal|Dhandapani espectively.

Dhandapani hailing from Dindigul in Tamil Nadu was working as a tea maker in a Madurai cafe when he was discovered by Balaji Sakthivel and given a role in “Kadhal”. He never looked back thereon has done many villain roles as well as character roles as a father. In a few films he played humorous parts too

The tall dark Dhandpani with pock marks on his face spoke his dialogues in a simple rustic kind of way without any affectations.He acted out his roles with easy and did not resort to histrionics often conveying the mood of characters played by him through facial expressions rather than dialogue.

He was known for his intense portrayal in many films and also showed his knack for comedy in a few movies. His voice was particularly marked and he would surely be missed. Sarath Kumar’s Sandamarudham was the last film in which Dhandapandi took part in, before his unfortunate end today morning.

According to actor R. Sarath Kumar, Dhandapani was shooting with him Saturday for upcoming film “Sandamarutham”.

“My deepest condolences to friend and colleague who worked with me yesterday Kaadhal Dhandapani has left this world to the heavenly abode RIP,” Sarath Kumar posted on his Twitter account.

His body is currently at Vijaya hospitals , Chennai . Actor and Nadigar Sanga Thalaivar R.Sarathkumar,Director Samudrakani and Director A. Venkatesh paid their last respects to “Kadhal Dhandapani” at Vijaya Hospital.

Many other film celebrities are expected to pay their condolences before his cremation.His upcoming films include Surya’s “Anjaan” and Bharat’s “Ainthaam Thalaimurai Siddha Vaithiya Sigamani”.He became popular with Telugu audiences after the film Krishna .

Apart from “Kadhal” Dhandapani has also acted in several popular films such as “Chithiram Pesuthadi”, “Muni”, “Krishna” “Engleeshkaran”and “Varutha Padatha Valibar Sangam”.

Dhandapani is 71 years old. He has three sons and one daughter. All of them are married. His wife passed away three years back.

His last rites will be performed in Dindugul once, one of his sons, who is in the United States arrives in India.
