Popular Telugu film character actress “Telangana” Shakuntala passed away on Saturday following a cardiac arrest at her home in Hyderabad.

The 63-year-old was rushed to a private hospital in the early hours and was declared “brought dead”, family sources said.

She is survived by two children.

Shakuntala acted in more than 70 films, including several in Tamil.

She was Popularly known as “Swarnakka” among Tamil film fans after she portrayed a negative role by that name in the mega hit “Dhool” starring Vikram

Shakuthala was a Maharashtrian by Birth who leant to speak Telugu and blossomed in Andhra Pradesh.However Shakutala residing in Hyderabad imbibed the spirit of Telengana fully and voluntarily added the prefix Telengana to her name and became known widely as Telengana Shakunthala
