A coup is developing in cricket circles to oust K. Mathivanan from cricket administration.

Mathivanan was a popular choice for the post of Vice-President in this year’s Sri Lanka Cricket elections where he received the most number of votes. However, he has been completely sidelined by a fellow official well known for his crooked deals.

Mathivanan is extremely popular among the employees at the cricket board and those who are involved with the administration of the sport, but one man’s political clout seems to be keeping him aside.

Now having sidelined him from national cricket administration, the ambitious official is attempting to sideline him completely by contesting him in a smaller cricket election which is just around the corner. This particular official is said to be using the support of a fellow schoolmate, who has been allegedly caught shoplifting, in a bid to oust the popular administrator.

Mathivanan has a clean image and has done a lot to develop club cricket. When he was involved in cricket administration, the board didn’t go bankrupt, computer disks containing valuable information didn’t go missing and the Minister of Sports didn’t call the cricket board the third most corrupt institution in the country.
