Logeshwaran Manimaran the Cardiff Pitch Invader with Tiger Flag to be Arrested if he Tries to Enter Sri Lanka on British Passport

Colombo Chief Magistrate, Gihan Pilapitiya, yesterday ordered the relevant officials to arrest Logeshwaram Manimaran and hand him over to the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), if he attempted to enter Sri Lanka using his British passport.

Manimaran who invaded the pitch carrying a Tiger flag during the semi-final match between Sri Lanka and India of ICC Champions Trophy at Cardiff Ground, England, will be subjected to further interrogation over an alleged multi-million rupees ATM fraud, the judge announced.

The police informed the Court that the suspect, an alleged LTTE supporter, had allegedly personified under four names after receiving British citizenship. The names are: S. Moorthi Yashoharan, Narayana Swami Mohan, Subramanium Edwin, and Mohan Raj.

The CID also informed Court that the suspect had obtained a passport under the name, Narayana Swami Mohan, and had travelled to several countries.

The suspect lived under the name Logeshwaram Manimaran in Sri Lanka, and had been using the three other names. The CID informed Court that the suspect had been found guilty of retrieving as much as Rs 8 million from various bank accounts via ATM cards in Thailand, and had fled Thailand after he was released on bail. The CID further informed Court that the suspect has been proved guilty of financial frauds in several countries including England and Germany. He was arrested by the Thailand Police over an ATM fraud on 15 February, and was released on bail.

The CID informed the Court that on 19 May, Manimaran had allegedly withdrawn money using fake ATM cards from another account to the tune of Rs 35,891,000, in Sri Lanka. He had subsequently fled the country on 22 May. Chief Magistrate, Gihan Pilapitiya ordered the officials overseeing the case to report on the progress made on the investigations to Court on 30 August.
