Funds Allocated to Local Authorities in Jaffna Reverted Back to Treasury Because TNA Councils did not Utilise Money for Development

TNA DIDN’T USE FUNDS, WHICH REVERTED BACK TO TREASURY – Officials in Jaffna

Local government funding allocations given to the local government (LG) bodies in Jaffna were returned because the Tamil National Alliance LG members had not made use of these budgetary allocations, and not due to any other reason, stated Govt. officials, when a TNA LG member asked President about budgetary allocations given to TNA local bodies, being allegedly taken back by the Treasury.

Apparently a TNA MP showed the President who was in Jaffna yesterday, two news articles that appeared in local English weeklies claiming that monies allocated to the TNA local government bodies had been taken back by the Treasury.

Officials present however said that these monies were automatically accrued to the Treasury, only because the TNA local government representatives had not made use of these disbursements.

Not just the politicians but the local media too is however now spreading this false rumour that monies allocated to TNA administrative bodies in Jaffna are being reclaimed by government, Presidential Media spokesman Mohan Samaranayake told Daily News from Jaffna.COURTESY:DAILY NEWS
