Two policemen guarded the \u200centrance to ward No. 58 of \u200bthe hospital as nurses milled about and doctors conducted morning rounds.<\/p>\n<p>The attack, which \u2060dramatically widens the scope of the war, happened hundreds of miles across the Indian Ocean \u200cfrom the Gulf, where U.S. and Israeli forces are striking Iran and Tehran is retaliating with missile and drone attacks.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAn American submarine sank an Iranian warship that thought it was safe in international waters,\u201d U.S. \u200cDefense Secretary Pete Hegseth said at the Pentagon. \u201cInstead, it \u200bwas sunk by a torpedo.
