People were asking me if the JVP would join the protest, and when I answered no, they asked why not. On 2 November, the answer was given by the organisers,\u201d said Dissanayake while speaking yesterday (7) at the NPP Homagama Assembly.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>\u201c(Opposition and SJB Leader) Sajith Premadasa says that he will become President, (Sri Lanka Freedom Party General Secretary and MP) Dayasiri Jayasekara says that (SLFP Chairman and MP) Maithripala Sirisena will be President. Another says that we should break down barricades. (Samagi Vanitha Balawegaya National Organiser) Hirunika Premachandra took a bus to Colombo Fort. What is happening?\u201d queried Dissanayake, pointing out that protests and agitations cannot proceed in this manner, but need a more holistic and united approach.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere can\u2019t be one protest for the economy, one for corruption, and another for theft,\u201d stated Dissanayake, elaborating that the NPP is ready to seek answers to the people\u2019s problems through a people\u2019s movement with a leader.<\/p>\n<p>The said protest that took place on 2 November was organised by several political parties, including the SJB, alongside civil organisations and trade unions.
