An Extraordinary Gazette published on Monday (June 27)listed the core responsibilities and institutions under Dhammika Perera\u2019s Ministry of Investment Promotion.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The institutions are the Board of Investment, Colombo Port City Economic Commission, Department of Immigration and Emigration, Colombo Lotus Tower Management Company Ltd., Techno Park Development Company Ltd., and Information Technology Parks.<\/p>\n

The previous Gazette had TRC, ICTA and SLT among others under a Ministry called Technology and Investment Promotion. However, the Colombo Lotus Tower Management Company is a venture of TRC.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Dhammika\u2019s Ministry has been tasked with several responsibilities. The broader role is formulation, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of policies, programs and projects, in relation to the subject of Investment Promotion and those subjects that come under the purview of Departments, Statutory Institutions and Public Corporations based on the national policies implemented by the Government, and in accordance with the policy statement \u2018Vistas of Prosperity and Splendour\u2019.<\/p>\n

The others are as follows.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

1. Provision of public services under the purview of the Ministry in an efficient and people-friendly manner<\/p>\n

2. Reforming all systems and procedures using modern management techniques and technology, thus ensuring that the functions of the Ministry are fulfilled while eliminating corruption and waste<\/p>\n

3. Promotion of economic potential in Sri Lanka and thereby promote foreign direct investment and private sector investment<\/p>\n

4. Formulation of policies, strategies, programs and projects to enhance regional trade and investment cooperation<\/p>\n

5. Promotion, regulation and monitoring of economic development zones<\/p>\n

6. Development of Colombo Port City Special Economic Zone as an International Business and Services Hub with specialised infrastructure and other facilities aimed at national interest and economic advancement<\/p>\n

7. Matters relating to Immigration and Emigration<\/p>\n

8. Establish the Colombo Lotus Tower as a Business Model and promote it as a Tourist Centre<\/p>\n

9. Formulation of digital Government strategies<\/p>\n

10.Establishment of Technology Parks<\/p>\n

11.Matters relating to expansion of digital technology ventures<\/p>\n
