{"id":77109,"date":"2022-04-22T00:18:24","date_gmt":"2022-04-22T04:18:24","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/dbsjeyaraj.com\/dbsj\/?p=77109"},"modified":"2022-04-22T22:30:56","modified_gmt":"2022-04-23T02:30:56","slug":"ex-mass-media-minister-dullas-alahapperuma-writes-letter-to-president-gotabaya-rajapaksa-calling-for-the-resignation-of-prime-minister-mahinda-rajapaksa-and-the-cabinet-of-ministers-and-the-appoi","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dbsjeyaraj.com\/dbsj\/?p=77109","title":{"rendered":"Ex-Mass Media  Minister  Dullas Alahapperuma writes  letter to President Gotabaya Rajapaksa  calling for the resignation of Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa and the cabinet of ministers  and the appointment of a new all-party interim government  for a one year period  to help manage the country\u2019s economic crisis."},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>By<\/p>\n<p>Ruwani Fonseka<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Former Minister of Mass Media Dullas Alahapperuma has written a letter to President Gotabaya Rajapaksa, calling for the resignation of Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa and the cabinet of ministers to make way for an all-party interim government in order to manage the country\u2019s economic crisis.<\/p>\n<p>In the letter dated today, Alahaperruma suggested that a small cabinet that represents all political parties that represent parliament must be appointed without delay for a period of no more than one year.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe prime goal of such an administration must be to face the challenge of laying a permanent foundation for national unity and sovereignty and setting the country\u2019s economic and political agenda through broad consensus in a set period of time,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Noting the repetitive requests by protestors islandwide, Alahapperuma\u2019s letter stated that thousands of people have now taken to the streets due to the worsening economic crisis and that the matter should be addressed urgently.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHistory will accord special significance to the sacrifice of the Prime Minister and the cabinet would have to make for such an interim government to become a reality. We must realise at least at this last burning second that every week this decision is delayed, the country\u2019s future and stability is ruined for years,\u201d his letter mentioned.<\/p>\n<p>Alahapperuma concluded his letter to President Rajapaksa with the Alma Mater of Ananda College, which is also the school attended by President Rajapaksa.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAppamado amatha padam (doing without delay).
