Former State Minister Susil Premajayantha who was stripped of his Ministerial Portfolio today (04) by President Gotabaya Rajapaksa appeared to be unfazed by this development while speaking to the media.<\/p>\n

Premajayantha also expressed that he will be returning to his profession as a lawyer.<\/p>\n

\u201cThese are not big things. I have a profession and from tomorrow onwards I can always return back to that. I became a Minister in the year 2000, so no big deal. I was not informed prior that I was sacked, it is the same to all. We just found out from the media. I guess I was put out because I spoke to the media the other day at the market and I was outspoken about the failure of this Government\u2019s implementation of the organic fertiliser drive. I spoke on behalf of the people,\u201d said Premajayanatha.<\/p>\n

When further questioned as to why he was terminated from his Ministerial portfolio, even though many ministers before him had openly criticised Government decisions, Premajayantha said that such decisions would have been made at the Cabinet meeting which was held yesterday.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis discussion must have happened at the cabinet meeting yesterday. Positions have to also be made for a person involved in the health industry to join the education field. Those people will not appreciate and value education,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Premajayantha also said that the direction at which the country is headed is evident in the decisions made by the Government.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe can now see why such decisions are made. The direction the country is headed is clearly evident. I don\u2019t know whether they have internal conflicts or not. It is the people who voted us in, and now we voice our opinions,\u201d he added.
\nAdditionally, Premajayantha said that he will continue his journey in politics as he always has, and will work his way forward.<\/p>\n

\u201cI started at the Kotte Municipal Council in 1992 with the SLFP. I was the party secretary for over 11 years and worked under 3 Presidents, and even won many elections. I have a sound history in politics. The Government will one day look back and realise the loss they have incurred with my dismissal,\u201d he concluded.<\/p>\n
