{"id":73952,"date":"2021-08-10T19:32:25","date_gmt":"2021-08-11T00:32:25","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/dbsjeyaraj.com\/dbsj\/?p=73952"},"modified":"2021-08-10T19:33:57","modified_gmt":"2021-08-11T00:33:57","slug":"former-cabinet-minister-rishad-bathiudeen-who-was-detained-under-the-pta-for-egedly-aiding-and-abetting-easter-sunday-terror-bombings-is-remanded-until-august-17th-by-fort-magistrate-priyantha-liy","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dbsjeyaraj.com\/dbsj\/?p=73952","title":{"rendered":"Former Cabinet Minister Rishad Bathiudeen who was Detained Under the PTA for Allegedly Aiding and Abetting  Easter Sunday Terror Bombings  is Remanded Until August 17th by Fort Magistrate Priyantha Liyanage"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>By<\/p>\n<p>Shavini Madhara<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Former Minister Rishard Bathiudeen who was arrested and detained under the Prevention of Terrorism Act was remanded till August 17 by Fort Magistrate Priyantha Liyanage yesterday.<\/p>\n<p>The investigators had conducted a comprehensive probe into funding of the Easter Sunday suicide bombers and a range of financial transactions that had taken place in the run up to the 2019 attacks.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>The MP was initially questioned under a 72 hour detention order obtained by the Criminal Investigations Department under the provisions of Article 6(1) of the Prevention of Terrorism Act.<\/p>\n<p>The Detention Order that was obtained for 72 hours expired on April 27.<\/p>\n<p>However a further Detention Order was obtained pursuant to Article 9(1) of PTA, as Bathiudeen needed to be interrogated further. Given this, a 90 day Detention Order was obtained to conduct further investigations.
