{"id":73255,"date":"2021-06-16T23:48:06","date_gmt":"2021-06-17T04:48:06","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/dbsjeyaraj.com\/dbsj\/?p=73255"},"modified":"2021-06-16T23:48:06","modified_gmt":"2021-06-17T04:48:06","slug":"unp-formally-submits-letter-nominating-party-leader-ranil-wickremesinghe-as-member-of-parliament-on-the-bational-list-to-elections-commission-chairman","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dbsjeyaraj.com\/dbsj\/?p=73255","title":{"rendered":"UNP Formally Submits Letter  Nominating  Party Leader Ranil Wickremesinghe as Member of Parliament on the  Bational List to Elections Commission Chairman"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>The United National Party (UNP) yesterday informed the Election Commission regarding the appointment of Party Leader Ranil Wickremesinghe to the National List seat they secured at the general elections last year<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier this month, Wickremesinghe was selected to the post by the party\u2019s working committee, with the UNP General Secretary and former Parliamentarian Palitha Range Bandara telling the Daily FT that the \u201cdecision was unanimous\u201d.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>In a recent press release, UNP Chairman Vajira Abeywardena stated: \u201cWe can see that the Opposition in Parliament lacks experience and understanding regarding national issues and international relations.
