{"id":73123,"date":"2021-06-01T15:56:43","date_gmt":"2021-06-01T20:56:43","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/dbsjeyaraj.com\/dbsj\/?p=73123"},"modified":"2021-06-02T01:27:51","modified_gmt":"2021-06-02T06:27:51","slug":"ma-sumaanthiran-pc-files-application-on-behalf-of-two-moulavis-detained-under-the-pta-who-want-to-make-direct-statement-to-fort-magistrate-claiming-to-be-under-pressure-by-police-to-implicate-lawyer","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dbsjeyaraj.com\/dbsj\/?p=73123","title":{"rendered":"MA Sumanthiran PC Files Application on Behalf of Two Moulavis Detained Under the PTA  who Want to Make Direct Statement to Fort Magistrate Claiming to be under  Pressure by Police to Implicate Lawyer Hejaaz Hibullah Falsely in Case Relating to Alleged Extremist Teachings at AlhZuhriya Madrassa"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>By Easwaran Rutnam<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Two Maulavis who have been arrested under the Prevention of Terrorism Act (PTA), have informed court through their lawyer that they are under pressure to frame human rights lawyer Hejaaz Hizbullah.  <\/p>\n<p>Attorney-at-law Erick Balasooriya had filed a Fundamental Rights petition alleging that the two Maulavis are being coerced to frame Hizbullah.<\/p>\n<p>In the Petition, Balasooriya said the Moulavis do not know Hizbullah nor did they conduct any extremist teaching at the Al-Zuhriya madrasa.<\/p>\n<p>When the Moulavis were first produced before the Colombo Magistrates court yesterday, Balsooriya informed court that the Moulavis intend making a statements to him. The matter was thereafter transferred to the Fort Magistrates court.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, President\u2019s Counsel M.A. Sumanthiran who appeared before the Fort Magistrate on behalf of the two Maulavis today (Tuesday) told Daily Mirror that he had filed an application seeking permission for the Maulavis to make a statement directly to the Fort Magistrate.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey want to make a statement to the Magistrate in the chamber.
