Sri Lanka’s Parliament has been adjourned till 10.00 am tomorrow (15) by Speaker Karu Jayasuriya after amid a tense situation, after the Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna moved a motion of no confidence, legislators said.<\/p>\n
Sri Lanka’s speakers had accepted that a majority of members supported a motion of no confidence against Mahinda Rajapaksa’s administration, legislators who came out of the chamber told reporters.<\/p>\n
UNP’s Sajith Premadasa told reporters that legislators with Mahinda Rajapaksa had attempted to distrupt proceedings, but democracy had prevailed.<\/p>\n

Dinesh Gunewardene, a member of the so-called Joint Opposition said standing orders had been suspended for the vote.<\/p>\n
But Premadasa said standing orders had been suspended with the approval of a majority of the house.<\/p>\n
Piyasena Gamage, and A H M Fowzie had crossed over.<\/p>\n
Wasantha Senanayake, who had accepted a ministerial post from President Sirisena said he will resign as the majority was not where he expected it to be.<\/p>\n
