{"id":57562,"date":"2018-02-06T23:02:39","date_gmt":"2018-02-07T04:02:39","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/dbsjeyaraj.com\/dbsj\/?p=57562"},"modified":"2018-02-06T23:02:39","modified_gmt":"2018-02-07T04:02:39","slug":"brigadier-priyanka-fernando-serving-as-minister-counsellordefence-at-sri-lankan-high-commission-in-uk-is-suspended-for-allegedly-behaving-in-an-offensive-manner","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dbsjeyaraj.com\/dbsj\/?p=57562","title":{"rendered":"Brigadier Priyanka Fernando Serving as Minister Counsellor(Defence) at Sri Lankan High Commission in UK is Suspended For Allegedly &#8220;Behaving in an Offensive Manner&#8221;."},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em><strong>The government yesterday suspended Brigadier Priyanka Fernando, Minister Counsellor (Defence) attached to the Sri Lanka High Commission in London following allegations that he had acted in a threatening manner during a protest staged by some pro-LTTE\u2008groups outside the Sri Lankan High Commission in London on the Independence Day.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>The Foreign Ministry has issued the following statement: &#8220;Authorities in Sri Lanka have taken serious note of videos being circulated on social and web-based media of an alleged incident involving the Minister Counsellor (Defence) attached to the Sri Lanka High Commission in London behaving in an offensive manner.<\/p>\n<p>In this connection, instructions have been sent to Sri Lanka\u2019s High Commissioner in London today, 6 February 2018, to suspend the Minister Counsellor (Defence) from work, with immediate effect. Authorities in Sri Lanka including the Sri Lanka Army will initiate inquiries on the incident immediately.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The protest has been organized by a group called Tamil Solidarity active in the UK. In a petition to UK government, the group demanded that Brig.
