Senior Additional Solicitor General Dappula de Livera, PC yesterday told the presidential commission of inquiry probing bond scams that Perpetual Treasuries (Pvt.) Ltd (PTL) had maintained two \u2018things-to-do\u2019 files for RK and AM.<\/p>\n

PC de Livera mentioned this while former Governor of the Central Bank Arjuna Mahendran was testifying before the Commission. Mehendran denied any knowledge of the files or the initials, RK\u2008and AM.<\/p>\n

The SASG said the aforesaid facts were corroborated by text messages exchanged between Mahendran and his Personal Assistant Steve Samuel.<\/p>\n

The details of messages exchanged between the duo were marked and submitted to the Commission.<\/p>\n

SASG de Livera told the Commission that following the revelation of aforesaid facts the credibility of evidence, given by Mahendran before the Commission, claiming that he had not been involved in the PTL\u2008affairs while he was Governor of the Central Bank, was in doubt.<\/p>\n

Mahendran told the Commission that he didn\u2019t know who was referred to as RK and AM.<\/p>\n

SASG de Livera told the commission that another SMS exchanged between Steve Samuel and Arjuna Aloysius spelt out what tasks had to be performed by a person called A. Mahendran and PTL\u2008maintained a file in that regard. Mahendran said he didn\u2019t know who A. Mahendran was.<\/p>\n

When the Senior Additional Solicitor General said A.Mahendran was none other than Arjuna Mahendran himself, the latter denied the charge.<\/p>\n

When de Livera asked Mehendran whether RK stood for Ravi Karunanayake, the latter said he was not aware that Ravi Karunanayke was known as RK.<\/p>\n

But, when de Livera pointed out to Mahendran\u2019s lawyers marked documents pertaining to him as AM, the latter accepted it.<\/p>\n

Mahendran told the Commission that he didn\u2019t know who Steve Samuel was.<\/p>\n

The commission expected to conclude its proceedings by the end of next week,Chairman Justice K. T. Chitrasiri said yesterday.<\/p>\n

The People\u2019s Bank General Manager and the Chairmen of the Bank of Ceylon and National Savings Bank have been summoned to give evidence before the Commission today.<\/p>\n
