{"id":53391,"date":"2017-06-02T18:00:16","date_gmt":"2017-06-02T22:00:16","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/dbsjeyaraj.com\/dbsj\/?p=53391"},"modified":"2017-06-02T18:01:09","modified_gmt":"2017-06-02T22:01:09","slug":"police-cid-question-ex-def-secy-gotabhaya-rajapaksa-about-the-may-22-2008-abduction-of-journalist-keith-noyahr-for-over-three-hours","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dbsjeyaraj.com\/dbsj\/?p=53391","title":{"rendered":"Police CID Question Ex-Def Secy Gotabhaya Rajapaksa About the May 22nd 2008 Abduction of Journalist Keith Noyahr for Over Three Hours"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>The Criminal Investigations Department (CID) questioned former Defence Secretary Gotabhaya Rajapaksa for over three hours over the abduction of journalist Keith Noyahr yesterday.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The former Defence Secretary was questioned whether he was aware of the abduction of the senior journalist as he was in charge of the security apparatus at the time of the incident.<\/p>\n<p>The CID also questioned Rajapaksa over claims that he intervened in ensuring the release of Noyahr in the wee hours of May 23,2008.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>CID sources said the former Defence Secretary will be summoned for another round of questioning soon. Noyahr who was Deputy Editor of The Nation was abducted<\/p>\n<p>on May 22 , 2008 and mercilessly beaten by an unidentified group and held for over seven hours.<\/p>\n<p>Noyahr wrote critical analyses of Sri Lanka\u2019s security situation in his column \u201cMilitary Matters\u201d under the the pseudonym \u201cSenpathi then.<\/p>\n<p>The CID arrested six Sri Lanka army personnel attached to the Army Intelligence Directorate, in connection with the assault on Noyahr.
