\nPopular South Indian actress of Malayalam ethnicity Bhavana was reportedly abducted and molested by a gang of goondas when she was returning home from a shoot in Ernakulam district in Kerala.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Bhavana (b: June 6, 1986)<\/p><\/div>\n

The incident took place on Friday Feb 17th when the men stopped and hijacked Bhavana\u2019s car near Athani in Angamaly. The actress was molested in a moving car till they reached Palarivattom, which is roughly 25 kms away. The assailants got down at Palarivattom and fled in another car.<\/em><\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

The actress informed the police that her former driver, Martin, was among those who forcefully entered her car. The police have taken the driver into custody while another accused Sunil, who also worked for the actress as a driver, is absconding.<\/p>\n

The gang also took video and photos of the actress while threatening her of dire consequences inside the running car. The police have registered a case of kidnapping and molestation.<\/p>\n

Karthiga Menon<\/strong><\/p>\n

30 year old Bhavana whose real name is Karthiga Menon was born in the Thrissur district of Kerala state in India. She began acting in films at the age of 16 and has starred in almost a 100 films in the South Indian languages of Malayalam.Tamil.Telugu and Kannada. Her debut films in the four languages were “Nammal” (2002)- Malayalam, “Chithiram Paesuthadi”(2005 -Thamizh, “Ontari”(2007) -Telugu and “Jackie”(2010)-Kannada.Among her films in Tamil are “Veyyil”, “Koodal Nagar”. “Kizhakku Karai Saalai”, “Deepaavali”, “Rameswaram”.
\n“Vaazthungal”, “jayamkondaan” etc Bhavana is an accomplished actress who has won several prestigious awards.<\/p>\n

Crime Thriller Drama Episode<\/strong><\/p>\n

The entire episode unfolded like a crime thriller, as a seven-member gang led by Sunil Kumar aka Pulsar Suni intercepted the car in which the actor was travelling on the National Highway 544 near Parambayam, Nedumbassery around 10 pm. The actor was on her way to Kochi after a shoot in Thrissur.<\/p>\n

The accused followed the actor in a Tempo Traveller, hit the vehicle against her car and picked up an altercation with the driver. In the melee, two of the gang members forcefully entered the car. While one of them forced the driver to drive the vehicle as per his direction, Sunil Kumar reportedly molested the actor and shot objectionable pictures and videos. They got down at Palarivattom and escaped in the van. Later, the actor reached the house of a film director at Kakkanad who. in turn, informed the police.<\/p>\n

The arrest of the accused on Saturday unravelled the conspiracy behind the entire episode. According to the police, Martin – a native of Koratty in Thrissur who had been working with the actor for the last couple of years – had allegedly plotted the kidnap drama.<\/p>\n

The police have confirmed Pulsar Suni, from Perumbavoor is the main accused in the incident. Besides Pulsar Suni, the police are on the lookout for four others. Suni had earlier worked with Lal Media, a firm run by actor-producer Lal, and was instrumental in getting a driver\u2019s job for Martin.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe have identified the accused and all of them would be arrested soon\u201d, said Nedumbassery SI Hari, who is heading the probe.<\/p>\n

The Nedumbassery police registered an FIR against the accused for abduction, rape, criminal conspiracy and criminal intimidation, apart from section 66 E of IT Act for taking the picture of the actor using mobile phones.<\/p>\n

Two More Arrested in Coimbatore<\/strong><\/p>\n

The police have arrested two men who were in the seven-man gang that abducted and allegedly raped a Malayalam actress in a car on Friday night. The two men were on the run after the actress lodged a complaint with the police.
\nThey were picked up in Coimbatore on Sunday.
\nThe actress\u2019 driver Martin was arrested on Saturday for allegedly having a hand in the whole episode.<\/p>\n

The actress in Tamil and Malayalam cinema was allegedly abducted and raped in a moving car on Friday night. <\/p>\n

SUNIL KUMAR Alias “Pulsar” Suni<\/p>\n

The episode unfolded dramatically on Saturday when it was revealed that a seven-member gang led by Sunil Kumar aka Pulsar Suni intercepted the actor\u2019s car on National Highway 544 near Parambayam, Nedumbassery around 10 pm Friday night. <\/p>\n

She was on her way to Kochi after a film shoot in Thrissur when the incident took place. <\/p>\n

The gang followed the actor in a van, engineered a minor collision with her car and picked up an altercation with the car\u2019s driver. In the melee, two of the gang members got into the actor\u2019s luxury car. <\/p>\n

Sunilkumar reportedly molested while inside the car and shot her pictures and videos in compromising positions. The accused got off at Palarivattom within the city, and escaped in a van after dropping off the car driver at the same point.
\nThe actor took shelter in the house of a director at Kakkanad, who in turn informed the police.
\nThe rest of the four accused, including Suni, the mastermind behind the operation, are still at large.<\/p>\n

Blackmail Plot Reason Behind Abduction <\/strong><\/p>\n

Pulsar Suni and Martin, key accused in the abduction of a popular actor, had hatched a conspiracy to blackmail her after taking her nude photographs, said a police officer who is part of the investigation team.<\/p>\n

Suni is accused in several criminal cases filed in the past, including assault and hawala operation.<\/p>\n

According to sources, the accused had targeted two actors, and one of them fell into their trap on Friday night. Earlier, they had plotted to trap another actor, a married woman.<\/p>\n

Martin reportedly told the police that Suni had told him actors would not complain if photographed naked. The crime came to light after director Lal informed the police about the incident.<\/p>\n

The victim in her statement said she had noticed Martin sending text messages during the trip to Kochi.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe accused, including Suni, had covered their face with a cloth. Hence, they could not be identified,\u201d said the statement.<\/p>\n

The police confirmed Suni\u2019s involvement in the case after interrogating Martin in detail and examining the mobile phone from which he had sent SMS.<\/p>\n

During the investigation, the police also gathered details of the telephonic conversations between Martin and Suni, and the text messages they exchanged. The duo had made over 40 calls to each other and exchanged several text messages. It is being investigated whether the accused have links with \u2018quotation gangs,\u201d said an officer of the Ernakulam Rural police station.<\/p>\n

Tight Security as Court Records Statement <\/strong><\/p>\n

The entire state was shocked when the news of abduction and sexual assault of a popular actor hit the headlines.<\/p>\n

When the victim was produced at the Kalamassery Judicial First Class Magistrate Court at 6.30pm on Saturday for recording her statement, hundreds of people gathered on the court premises.
\nThe proceedings lasted for more than one hour. The investigators said procedures for recording the statement were expedited, considering a recent Supreme Court order. As per the guidelines, on the commission of the offence of rape by the accused, the victim should be presented before a Judicial Magistrate for recording statement. As far as possible, the investigating officer should take the victim to a lady Magistrate. \u201cIn such cases, permission of the
\nChief Judicial Magistrate Court is not required for recording the victim\u2019s statement,\u201d said a police officer. <\/p>\n

The statement was recorded in-camera. When the procedure was completed, security was beefed up on the court premises as people had gathered around the victim\u2019s car.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, the tempo in which the accused travelled was found abandoned at Thammanam.
\nOn Saturday, the victim was taken to Kalamassery Medical College for medical examination.<\/p>\n
