{"id":44869,"date":"2016-01-27T06:05:31","date_gmt":"2016-01-27T10:05:31","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/dbsjeyaraj.com\/dbsj\/?p=44869"},"modified":"2016-01-27T06:05:31","modified_gmt":"2016-01-27T10:05:31","slug":"president-sirisena-says-that-idea-behind-proposed-war-crimes-investigation-is-not-to-punish-security-forces-personnel","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dbsjeyaraj.com\/dbsj\/?p=44869","title":{"rendered":"President Sirisena says that Idea Behind Proposed War Crimes Investigation is &#8220;not to punish Security Forces Personnel&#8221;,"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>By<\/p>\n<p>P.K.Balachandran<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Sri Lankan President Maithripala Sirisena has told Lankan security forces personnel that Lanka was answerable to the international community regarding charges of human rights violations during Eelam War IV, and that any attempt to dodge the issue would lead to the country\u2019s isolation from the rest of the world.<\/p>\n<p>But while saying so, the President assured the troops that the idea behind the proposed war crimes investigations was \u201cto find out the truth and not to punish security forces personnel.\u201d <\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Speaking at a function here on Monday, Sirisena said Lanka was \u201cduty-bound\u201d to answer the charges because it couldn\u2019t survive \u201cin isolation\u201d. \u201cI cannot listen to my critics and quit the UN and other world bodies and shun  the help of other nations.
