\nWith the resignation from his ministerial portfolio to safe guard the unity in the government, Tilak Marapana has become the scapegoat to protect this government, said Pivithuru Hela Urumaya Secretary and Parliamentarian Udaya Gammanpila.<\/strong><\/p>\n

He also said that some persons are dumbfounded as it has been revealed that there had been no “Mega Deals” in the Avant Garde transactions as was told to the public. “Some members have taken the stance that someone or other should be arrested in connection with the Avant Garde incident,” Gammanpila said.<\/p>\n

“They say if no one is arrested, they would withdraw from the government,”Gammanpila said.<\/p>\n

He made these observation yesterday at a press conference at the Pivithuru Hela Urumaya Party head office.<\/p>\n

Gammanpila further said that the two LTTE Intelligence heads, Morris and Giri who directed the explosions that targeted Gotabhaya Rajapaksa and Sarath Fonseka are among those 217 Tamil prisoners who are to be released.<\/p>\n

He added 50 of these prisoners are convicted prisoners, while 120 have already been indicted. He also added that the other 47 are suspects.<\/p>\n

“The statement made by Brian Shaddick was not true although he made it holding the Holy Bible in his hands” Gammanpila said. “I refute all the allegations he made and I have made a statement before the Police in that regard.”<\/p>\n

He also alleged that the cases heard in Sri Lanka after January 8, are not before the Court but before the media.<\/p>\n
