The government yesterday submitted a supplementary estimate seeking parliament\u2019s approval to allocate 526 million rupees to cover expenses coming under the expenditure heads of President Maithripala Sirisena.<\/p>\n

According to the supplementary estimate presented to Parliament by Media Minister Gayantha Karunathilake, approval has been sought to allocate Rs 526,099,939 to pay for various expenses incurred under the heading of the President.<\/p>\n

Of this amount Rs. 118, 309, 433 was to cover recurrent expenses while the rest Rs. 407,790,506 was for capital expenses, the document tabled in Parliament said.<\/p>\n

Permission was also sought to allocate Rs. 21,000,000 to purchase two vehicle carriers for transporting the high security vehicles used by the President;<\/p>\n

Rs. 52,000,000 to purchase two dummy vehicles with the unit cost of Rs 26,000,000 to be used as security vehicles for the President;<\/p>\n

Rs. 23,911,080 to meet the expenditure on foreign travel expenses of the President;<\/p>\n

Rs 8,550,000 to meet shortfall of personal emoluments for the month of June 2015, to settle the outstanding payments and recurrent expenditures and to meet shortfall provision for personal emoluments of and other recurrent expenditures of the COSTI Project (Coordination and Monitoring Framework for Scientific Affairs); <\/p>\n

Rs 5,000,000 to meet urgent requirement of recurrent expenditure of the Ministry of Special Projects as an alternative arrangement; Rs 310,649,357 to settle the custom duty regarding the import of materials and equipment for the Nagananda International Institute for Buddhist Studies at Biyagama;<\/p>\n

Rs 28,848,353 to settle the outstanding bills of Sri Lankan Airlines related to special humanitarian flight operations to facilitate the government of Nepal; Rs 6,918,149 to utilize the funds transferred by KOICA to the General Treasury for the Saemual Undong Project implemented under the Ministry of Special Projects;<\/p>\n

Rs 16,423,000 to account the grant extended to UNICEF, National Nutritional Secretariat; <\/p>\n

Rs 12,000,000 to meet the urgent recurrent and capital expenditures of the Ministry of Special Projects; Rs 10,000,000 to implement the national programme on drug prevention by all ministries, departments and semi government institutions; and Rs 38,000,000 to meet the shortfall of provision for personal emoluments.<\/p>\n
