Hanifa, whose stentorian voice transcended religious lines, died here on Wednesday. Karunanidhi, along with party treasurer M.K. Stalin, visited his home in Chennai and paid their last respects. \u201cOur leader broke down as he was a close friend since the inception of the DMK,\u201d said Mr. Stalin.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Hanifa\u2019s voice used to be a powerful draw in DMK meetings and rallies and party cadres roared in excitement when he sang \u2018Odi varukiran Udayasooriyan and Kallakudikonda Karunanidhi Vaazhgavey\u2019 and plunged into silence when he used his baritone voice to sing \u2018Yengey sentrai yengey sentrai\u2019 to narrate the death of DMK founder C.N. Annadurai.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"480\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/gzMOsaT3Xkw?rel=0&amp;controls=0&amp;showinfo=0\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><em>&#8220;Iraivanidam Kaiyaenthungal&#8221;<\/em><\/p>\n<p>He lent his voice for a few films including Paava Mannippu in which he sang the song &#8220;Yellorum Kondaduvom&#8221; along with T.M.Soundararajan, \u2018Un mathama\u2019 in Raman Abdullah and also in Sembaruthi. His song Iraivanidam Kaiyenthungal continues to enchant many .<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/27nZJEdKEvw?rel=0&amp;controls=0&amp;showinfo=0\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><em>&#8220;Yellorum Kondaduvom&#8221;<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Born in Ramanathapuram, he settled in Nagore in the composite Thanjavur known for its famous Dargah and as a symbol of religious harmony.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHanifa was faithful to his religious beliefs.
