President’s brother Priyantha Sirisena is to be flown to Colombo for further treatment after he was assaulted with a sharp weapon at Polonnaruwa.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

National Hospital Director Dr. Anil Jasinghe said that the hospital is on standby to treat Sirisena.<\/p>\n

President Maithripala Sirisena’s brother Priyantha Sirisena was hospitalized after he was attacked with a sharp weapon at Hathare Ela in Polonnaruwa at around 7pm.<\/p>\n

No suspects have been arrested over the incident as of now. Police spokesperson ASP Ruwan Gunasekara said that police is searchig for an individual named Lakmal, who is said to be a friend of Priyantha Sirisena.<\/p>\n

The President\u2019s brother, who is known as \u2018Weli Raju\u2019, is known to be a businessman who is engaged in sand mining.<\/p>\n

The suspected attacker who severely injured President Maithripala Sirisena’s brother Priyantha Sirisena surrendered to Bakamuna Police a short while ago.<\/p>\n

Poice had launched a search operation for the individual named Lakmal.<\/p>\n

Priyantha Sirisena was hospitalized after he was attacked with a sharp weapon at Hathare Ela in Polonnaruwa at around 7pm. He is to be flown to Colombo for further treatment.<\/p>\n

President’s Brother Priyantha Sirisena Attacked In Polonnaruwa<\/strong><\/p>\n

President Maithripala Sirisena’s brother Priyantha Sirisena was hospitalized after he was reportedly attacked with a sharp weapon.<\/p>\n

He was admitted to the Polonnaruwa General Hospital.<\/p>\n

Police Spokesperson ASP Ruwan Gunasekara told Asian Mirror a short while ago that news of such an attack has reached him but he has to inquire more of it before he could provide exact details.<\/p>\n

The President\u2019s brother, who is known as \u2018Weli Raju\u2019, is known to be a businessman who is engaged in sand mining – a business that is done under strict legal observation in Sri Lanka. <\/p>\n

Two and a half years ago, he was arrested by Police for assaulting a wild life officer and damaging the properties of Wild Life Department\u2019s office in Manampitiya.<\/p>\n

In early February this year, Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna accused Priyantha Sirisena of conducting illegal sand mining in the Polonnaruwa distict.<\/p>\n
