{"id":39406,"date":"2015-03-11T02:55:21","date_gmt":"2015-03-11T06:55:21","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/dbsjeyaraj.com\/dbsj\/?p=39406"},"modified":"2015-03-11T02:56:19","modified_gmt":"2015-03-11T06:56:19","slug":"new-chines-envoy-yi-xianliang-to-objects-to-issue-about-chinese-submarines-and-asks-whether-colombo-harbour-belongs-to-sri-lanka-or-india","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dbsjeyaraj.com\/dbsj\/?p=39406","title":{"rendered":"New Chines Envoy Yi Xianliang to Objects to Issue about Chinese Submarines and asks whether Colombo Harbour Belongs to Sri Lanka or India?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/dbsjeyaraj.com\/dbsj\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/CHSLIFL.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/dbsjeyaraj.com\/dbsj\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/CHSLIFL-300x60.jpg\" alt=\"CHSLIFL\" width=\"300\" height=\"60\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-38737\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong><br \/>\nNewly appointed Chinese Ambassador to Sri Lanka, Yi Xianliang, said he was shocked when \u2018issues\u2019 were created and misleading media reports appeared when  Chinese submarines  called on the Colombo Port twice last year.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>He also said he is intended to discuss the matter with his Indian counterpart to check if that was an issue for them.<\/p>\n<p>Briefing journalists at the Embassy premises, the new Ambassador said that there are so many submarines and vessels which call on Colombo Port whereas, a huge noise was made and it becomes an issue only when Chinese submarines come. <strong> \u201cI was shocked when I read the news on the submarines last year,\u201d he<\/strong> said.<br \/>\n<!--more--><br \/>\nWhen the local media said it was India that objected and expressed concern with the Chinese submarines coming in here, the Ambassador said there must be a \u2018reasonable argument\u2019 if so.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI will talk to my Indian friends and it\u2019s not political or strategic reasons here but a technical issue,\u201d he claimed.<\/p>\n<p>When informed that 80% of the Indian transshipment is handled at the Colombo Port, he asked if that was the \u2018logic\u2019 behind their objection.
